Mission
Monterey Bay Charter School is a TK-8 public school serving the Monterey Peninsula. Committed to educating the whole child, the school endeavors to foster each child’s full potential. Founded in 1998, Monterey Bay Charter School is guided by the Core Principles for Public Waldorf Education and is a member of the Alliance for Public Waldorf Education.
The Big Idea
The extended time with the COVID-19 pandemic has presented many challenges for our youth and as a result created substantial stress and trauma for our community. Our students have been presented with significant mental health concerns due to emotional dysregulation, isolation during distance learning, and navigating the complex return to school for in-person instruction.
MBCS would like to offer coaching and mentoring of staff serving in an instructional setting including, but not limited to, coaching and mentoring solutions that address a local need for teachers that can serve all pupil populations with a focus on retaining teachers, and offering structured feedback and coaching systems organized around social-emotional learning, including, but not limited to, promoting teacher self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationships, and responsible decision-making skills, improving teacher attitudes and beliefs about one’s self and others, and supporting learning communities for educators to engage in a meaningful classroom teaching experience.
