Why Give

Our Mission: “Joyful Learning and Courageous Living”

Give What You Can

As a public charter school, Monterey Bay Charter School receives less government funding than public schools. We rely on annual giving, fundraisers and grants to achieve our annual fundraising goal. We ask that you give what your family can afford from $25-$100 a month or more. Our school is a special place to learn joyously and live courageously. School fundraising ensures that we can continue to offer the diverse and rich curriculum that makes Monterey Bay Charter School special.

What your Donation Does

Your generous donation ensures that our school can continue to offer:

  • Strings and music for students in grades 1-8
  • A school garden program and garden coordinator
  • Quality school supplies for all students
  • Handwork in grades 1-8
  • Woodworking in grades 5-8
  • Blacksmithing in grade 8
  • Additional instructors and support staff for all students
  • After school enrichment programs such theatre, sports, student council, mindful awareness club and Spanish club.
  • Engaging field trips for all students
  • School counseling team.

MC Gives!

The MC Gives! campaign is a partnership between the Weekly, the Community Foundation for Monterey County and the Monterey Peninsula Foundation. Coupled with the generosity of major supporters, MCGIVES! kicks off with an overall Matching Fund of over $450,000.From November 11 to December 31, donations can be made through the MC Gives! program for Monterey Bay Charter School. Many of our families choose to submit their Family Giving contributions during this time. It is an honor to be accepted into the MC GIves! Program.

Grants

MBCS greatly appreciates the support of organizations through grants that align with our mission and programs. If you are interested in learning more about supporting our programs through a grant, please contact our Communications and Development Manager at: communications@mbcharterschool.org

Annual Spring Auction

This event is our school’s largest fundraiser! A group of dedicated parent volunteers work all year long to obtain donations for our online auction, put together raffle prizes, and plan a themed party, open to the community. Each student is asked to sell $200 worth of raffle tickets for this fundraiser during the month of March. Stay tuned for more information on this year’s Spring Auction Party! The Spring Auction Party is scheduled for: Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Wave Street Studios from 6 to 9pm.

Support our Annual Spring Auction by donating goods, new merchandise, gift certificates, or services. Please contact us for more information.

Move a Thon

Held in November, students obtain pledges from family and friends for a flat dollar amount or pledge per lap. In past years, the children run, walk or jog for 30 minutes on our school field while listening to a drumming circle and running with our school mascot, the gnome! The annual Move A Thon is scheduled for: Thursday, November 9, 2023.

Giving Tuesday

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of radical generosity. GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

This year’s Giving Tuesday Campaign is scheduled for Tuesday, November 28, 2023..

Holiday Bazaar

Our annual Holiday Bazaar is a wonderful opportunity to build community, create one of a kind crafts for loved ones, purchase unique holiday gifts from our vendors, enjoy music and lunch made by our eighth grade students, and take Holiday photos with our winter gnome in our school garden. All proceeds from our Holiday Bazaar go directly to our school programs.

This year’s Holiday Bazaar is scheduled for Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 10am to 2pm at the Pacific Grove Campus..
