How Monterey Bay Charter School Cultivates the Whole Child Through Nature, Community, and Purpose
Featured in the Spring Edition of Coastal Growers Magazine, this article by Candace Villarta – our Communications and Development Manager, describes the core principles of the Monterey Bay Charter School.
Lunar New Year Celebration
Ms. Fanger’s 4th grade students welcomed the Year of the Fire Horse with curiosity, creativity, and hands-on joy. They rolled fresh spring rolls, feeling the textures of the ingredients in their hands. They practiced sweeping Korean calligraphy with brushes and ink, discovering the beauty of each gesture. And they designed and carved their own linocut stamps, bringing the fire horse to life through printmaking.
In Waldorf education, celebrations like this allow children to learn through movement, the senses, and creative expression, connecting with cultural traditions while nurturing imagination, patience, and care. Each activity invites observation, experimentation, and pride in what they create.
We are so grateful for these moments of shared celebration and creativity—our Cypress Class students truly bring the season to life!
