Celebrating Asian Pacific Islander Month

We couldn’t leave May without celebrating Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, an annual celebration recognizing the historical and cultural contributions of individuals and groups of Asian and Pacific Islander descent to the United States.
MBCS would like to thank the Coalition for Asian Justice for their amazing presentation at our PG campus. The presenters explained the history of the Chinese Fishing Village in Pacific Grove, promoted the Pacific Grove Walk of Remembrance, and demonstrated a traditional Lion Dance.

MBCS Viewpoint film with Dennis Quaid

We are excited to announce a collaboration with Viewpoint, the esteemed educational program hosted by renowned actor Dennis Quaid. Monterey Bay Charter School was chosen for an upcoming segment that will spotlight excellence in education!

The piece will highlight the core principles of Public Waldorf Education and showcase how the school’s commitment to excellence will ideally translate to the development of a new state-of-the-art campus in the coming years! We were joined by Liz Beaven, President from the Alliance for Public Waldorf for the interview portion, as well as our 8th-grade teacher, Natalie Croft and our Executive Director, Jessica Guzzi.

What a fun day of filming! We cannot wait to invite you to our viewing party. Stay tuned for more info!

5th Grade Greek Wax Museum

Our 5th graders have been working so very hard for the past few weeks as they have researched, written, created, and prepared for the Greek Wax Museum! The students embodied their characters and wowed nearly all of the grades at our school, our teachers, administrators, and board members who all came to see what they created, many remarked that they were blown away.

Now Enrolling for Fall 2024!

We are still accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year. Interested families can request a school tour at here.

Spring Faire Fun!

Spring Faire this year celebrated dances around the world. Spring Faire also included a full day of entertainment on our outdoor stage. Performances included a performance from Na Haumana Marina, the Hālau Hula Hi’ilani O Ke Kai, the Alto California Dance Group, the May Pole dance performed by 6th graders, and a beautiful one hour assembly from Cheza Nami.

Refreshments were served throughout the day, vendors sold their homemade goods, children played in the Fairy Glen, made wooden swords and shields, enjoyed pony rides, the petting zoo, blacksmithing, battled in the champions corner, made flower crowns, silk dyed, participated in the crossbow challenge and so much more! It was a magical day.
