Celebrating Asian Pacific Islander Month at MBCS
We couldn’t leave May without celebrating Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, an annual celebration recognizing the historical and cultural contributions of individuals and groups of Asian and Pacific Islander descent to the United States.
MBCS would like to thank the Coalition for Asian Justice for their amazing presentation at our PG campus. The presenters explained the history of the Chinese Fishing Village in Pacific Grove, promoted the Pacific Grove Walk of Remembrance, and demonstrated a traditional Lion Dance.
Beach Clean Up Success!
The MBCS Ocean Guardians recently held their final beach cleanup of the school year—and it was a big success! Despite wind and rainy weather, 22 dedicated students showed up and collected over 476 pounds of trash. Great job, everyone, and thank you for helping to protect our oceans!
Congratulations to Our MBCS Middle School Model UN Delegates!
In April, our Monterey Bay Charter School middle school students proudly participated in the 15th Annual Model United Nations Conference. Representing global delegates, they collaborated with peers from across the region and engaged in thoughtful, dynamic debates on real-world issues—demonstrating confidence, creativity, and compassion throughout the day.
We are incredibly proud of their preparation, leadership, and teamwork. A special thank you goes to the unstoppable Alison Dominguez, whose dedication and guidance made this transformative experience possible.

Spring Faire Fun!
This year’s Spring Faire celebrated dances from around the world and featured a full day of live entertainment on our outdoor stage. Highlights included performances by International Folk Dance, a dynamic Capoeira group, the Alto California Dance Group, and Alma y Tradición, a vibrant Baile Folklórico ensemble. Our 6th graders delighted the crowd with the traditional May Pole dance, and the day concluded with a beautiful one-hour assembly by Cheza Nami.
Throughout the Faire, refreshments were available, local vendors offered their handmade goods, and children enjoyed a wide range of activities. They played in the Fairy Glen, crafted wooden swords and shields, visited the petting zoo, watched blacksmithing in action, competed in the Champion’s Corner, made flower crowns, dyed silk, tried their hand at the crossbow challenge, and so much more. It was truly a magical day for all.
