Sea Otter Classic Assembly at MBCS
MBCS is incredibly grateful to the Sea Otter Classic team for visiting our 3–8 grade students at the end of April. Held each year at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, the Sea Otter Classic is recognized as one of the world’s premier cycling festivals. During the assembly, students were encouraged to ride bikes, stay active, and enjoy the outdoors.
Congratulations to our MBCS Middle School Model UN Delegates!
In April, our Monterey Bay Charter School middle school students proudly participated in the 15th Annual Model United Nations Conference. Representing global delegates, they collaborated with peers from across the region and engaged in thoughtful, dynamic debates on real-world issues—demonstrating confidence, creativity, and compassion throughout the day.

We are incredibly proud of their preparation, leadership, and teamwork. A special thank you goes to the unstoppable Alison Dominguez, whose dedication and guidance made this transformative experience possible.

Spring Faire Fun!
This year’s Spring Faire celebrated dances from around the world and featured a full day of live entertainment on our outdoor stage. Highlights included a Korean folk dance performance by fourth grade, a dynamic Capoeira group, the Alto California Dance Group, and Alma y TradiciĂ³n, a vibrant Baile FolklĂ³rico ensemble. Our 6th graders delighted the crowd with the traditional May Pole dance, and the day concluded with a beautiful one-hour assembly by Cheza Nami.
Throughout the Faire, refreshments were available, local vendors offered their handmade goods, and children enjoyed a wide range of activities. They played in the Fairy Glen, crafted wooden swords and shields, visited the petting zoo, watched blacksmithing in action, competed in the Champion’s Corner, made flower crowns, dyed silk, tried their hand at the crossbow challenge, and so much more. It was truly a magical day for all.
Sixth Grade Medieval Market
Last month, both 6th grade classes stepped back into medieval times and transformed into merchants for the annual Medieval Market. This engaging hands-on experience blended history with entrepreneurship as students created business plans and brought their shops to life.
Students from other grades were given coins to spend throughout the marketplace, where they could visit a variety of student-run businesses including a dressmaker, salt shop, spice shop, jewelry store, fine art shop, origami shop, non-alcoholic libation stand, snack cart, inn and tavern, and bank.
Through the experience, students explored important real-world math and economics concepts such as selling price, cost price, profit, loss, discounts, taxes, wages, overhead, simple interest, compound interest, and net income.

A special thank you to Queen Croft and King Ben for guiding and creating such a memorable learning experience for our students.
