Field Trip Highlight Mrs. Croft’s 6th Grade Big Sur Trip

Team Croft explored the earth and all its jade riches in Big Sur California. Each and every student brought home nephrite jade treasure from the shores of our beautiful California Coast.

They also started looking up at night and enjoyed a few meteors zooming across the sky. They located the Pleiades, a group of more than 800 stars located about 410 light-years from Earth in the constellation Taurus. Their explorations also included jade hunting. Great job 6th grade!

Celebrating Kindness and Anti-Bullying Month at MBCS!

In October, many schools celebrate kindness and anti-bullying month. Since the school year started, our counseling team has been hard at work to ensure the social and emotional well being of our students is a top priority. Many of our students are back on campus after a year and a half of distance learning and have an array of emotions they are processing.

Student Council heard about kindness and anti-bullying month and wanted to get involved. Our Student Council students have showed tremendous initiative in finding ways for our students to feel included and heard on campus. Student Council wanted to use money raised from their September bake sale to purchase kindness bracelets for 2nd-8th grade students as a reminder to be kind to ourselves and our peers. Additionally, Student Council is creating two rainbow benches, one for each campus. The rainbow benches are for students who are in need of a friend. Each 2nd-8th grade class will be naming a student their Kindness Ambassador and our counseling team will train these students on ways to help peers with conflict resolution and to look out for friends on the rainbow bench.

Last month, our Student Council President, Vice President, and Treasurer spoke to each class, with our school counselor Ms. Amber, about the importance of kindness, how to be a Kindness Ambassador, our rainbow benches, and what to do if you see bullying. We are very proud of our students!

MC Gives! Campaign runs until the end of the Year

The MC Gives! Campaign is a partnership between the Weekly, the Community Foundation for Monterey County and the Monterey Peninsula Foundation. Coupled with the generosity of major supporters — the Neumeier Poma Investment Counsel, Cannery Row Company, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation and the Colburn and Alana Jones Foundation at CFMC — MC Gives! kicks off with an overall Matching Fund of over $450,000.

From November 11 to December 31, donations can be made through the MC Gives! program for Monterey Bay Charter School. Many of our families choose to submit their Family Giving contributions during this time. It is an honor to be accepted into the MC GIves! Program.

Thank you for reading our newsletter. We hope you are having a great day!
